The San Francisco Office of Labor Standards Enforcement has updated their Minimum Wage notice. The updated notice now reflects the new minimum wage as $13.00 per hour effective July 1st, 2016.

What is this notice?

The City of San Francisco ordinance mandates that every employer operating within the city limits display certain city specific labor law postings. These notices are displayed on the 2016 San Francisco Notices Poster.

San Francisco Minimum Wage Posting

The Minimum Wage Ordinance, San Francisco Administrative Code 12R mandates that every employer located within the County / City of San Francisco must display and adhere to the San Francisco Minimum Wage. Effective July 1, 2016, all employers are required to now pay to each employee who performs work in San Francisco (including temporary and part-time
employees) wages not less than $13.00 per hour. This notice must be displayed at all workplace or job site locations where all employees can view it.

San Francisco Paid Sick Leave

The San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance became effective on February 5, 2007. All employers must provide paid sick leave to each employee (including temporary and part-time employees) who performs work in San Francisco. This notice must be displayed at all workplace or job site locations where all employees can view it.

San Francisco Healthcare Security Ordinance (HCSO)

Businesses with 20+ employees (and Nonprofits with 50+ employees) must display this notice at all workplace or job site locations where all employees can view it. The San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO) posting has been updated for 2015 with increases to the minimum amount that must be spent by businesses on health care benefits for each "covered employee". This update is included on our poster.

San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance (20+ employees)

Starting August 13, 2014, the Fair Chance Ordinance (San Francisco Police Code, Article 49) requires employers to follow strict rules regarding the use of arrest and conviction records in hiring and employment decisions. The ordinance covers job applicants and employees who would be or are performing work in whole, or in substantial part, in San Francisco and applies to employers who have 20 or more employees (regardless of the employees’ locations). The notice was updated in September 2014. A "Preemption" provision as well as the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement's contact information has been added to the posting. A revision date has also been added. This update is included on our poster.

San Francisco family Friendly Workplace Ordinance

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed the Family Friendly Workplace Ordinance (FFWO) on October 8, 2013. The FFWO became operative on January 1, 2014. Employers with 20+ employees must display this notice at all workplace locations or job sites where it can be viewed by all employees.

Who must display these notices?

If your business is located within the County / City of San Francisco, we recommend that you display the 2015 San Francisco Notices Poster and meet your mandatory posting requirements. If your business has fewer than 20 employees, you are not required to display the San Francisco Healthcare Ordinance (HCSO) posting, San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance or the San Francisco Family Friendly Workplace Ordinance posting.
